Doulas
The word “doula” comes from the Greek word “doulos” meaning “servant to a woman”. Today the word doula is used to describe a woman who serves another woman through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. As doulas we are honored to serve you. We do not feel belittled by the word servant when used in this way. On the contrary, we are encouraged at the idea of serving women through birth and the earliest days of parenthood. All women are connected in birth, as birth strips us of the differences that separate us and shines light on the many ways we are all simply human.
Nurturing people as far back as ancient times, doulas have a desire to help women have the best birthing experience possible. Being dependable, knowledgeable professionals, you can trust the doulas at Breathtaking Birth Doulas LLC to be there with you every step of you journey to parenthood. You understand the value of the kind of professional, non-judgmental support that our doulas bring to the birth space. Doulas rely on their training, intuition and experience in all kinds of births to offer the best care for you and your family.

Hiring a Doula
Our first meeting together we get to know one another. The consultation is free, so you can learn what you need to know to hire us. The moment you hire your doula, you enter into a relationship built on trust and respect. We build upon that foundation during our prenatal appointment at 32 weeks. During this meeting we discover together your birth preferences. Your doula will go on-call two weeks prior to your estimated due date. We will faithfully be available to you. We will be checking in periodically to ensure your well being.
What if I’m Having a Hospital Birth?
Breathtaking Birth Doulas LLC attends all kinds of birth. From home birth to cesarean section, we do it all. Make the choices that are right for you. We will be with you, to come alongside you during your pregnancy and birth. For a scheduled cesarean section, you will need to talk to your doctor ahead of time. Ask your provider if they allow doulas to attend you in the OR. Whether we are permitted in the operating room or not, we are trained and experience at providing support before and after your surgery. You can still hire a doula for your birth if you are having a C-section!

When Will my doula come?
We believe it is up to the woman to determine when she wants her doula to come for birth. Whenever you are ready for labor support, it is there for you.
We’ll begin with texting and speaking on the phone when you are experiencing very early signs of labor. Every question and every doubt is handled with care and consideration. You will feel at ease asking your doula the questions you have knowing that she isn’t judging you. We will be there for you.
When your doula joins you, at your request, she stays with you for the entire duration of your birth. Our doulas don’t have shift changes. We stay with you providing our skilled coping techniques. You have our undivided assistance while you are in labor. Our focused words of affirmation and our skill to attend you through your entire birth set us a part from other birth workers.
